The School offers admissions to students based on scores secured in CAT conducted by IIMs and their performance in Group Discussion and Interview, thus ensuring that the best of the applicants are selected. The students are selected from all states across the country; thereby the class composition is very diverse, giving the students an opportunity to get exposed to the traditions and culture of various parts of the country. The curriculum is regularly updated based on the inputs given by industry experts as well as academicians. The teaching pedagogy involves case studies, simulations, role plays, field visits apart from the regular lecture sessions. Corporate executives interact with the students during their visits, by delivering guest lectures, key note addresses and presentations during conferences. Students are also encouraged to present research papers in both national and international Conferences.
It is mandatory for students to undertake an eight weeks Summer Internship program right after their second Semester, during May and June, under the guidance of which would give them considerable exposure to the working environment of an organization. In addition to this internship program, the students need to undertake project work in their fourth semester. In the course of project work they are encouraged to conduct field studies, gather data, analyze it and prepare a project report.
To sum up students passing out from SMS are good in theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The companies recruiting them are assured of highly trained and highly motivated man power.
